Discrimination Legal Advisor

Tackling Discrimination In The East

Based Ipswich with some travel in East Anglia

Up to £25 000 f.t.e. Hours negotiable up to 37 hours per week


We provide free legal advice, advocacy and representation for victims of all types of unlawful discrimination and harassment in employment and goods and services, who cannot access legal help elsewhere.

We are funded by the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund until 31 March 2016 to provide a service in Suffolk. In addition we provide a limited service in Norfolk.

 We wish to recruit a Discrimination Legal Advisor for casework in Ipswich and at outreach clinics. The post would ideally suit a qualified solicitor, barrister or equivalent with some interest in discrimination and employment law (including advocacy at Employment Tribunals) but not necessarily any previous experience. Training will be given.

Law Volunteer

This role involves: Opening and sorting Mails, filing case papers, photocopying and organising documents for case files; entering information into the computerised case management system (AIMS),drafting letters to clients and updating them about their case or letters requesting more information from clients; answering the phone and logging information from calls including contact details and nature of enquiry. You may have the opportunity to sit in on meetings with clients and take notes as well as help interview clients and to assist with drafting client statements.

Your contribution will enable ISCRE to continue to deliver quality and timely equality services that bring significant benefits to Suffolk communities on issues around employment, housing, education, social welfare and criminal justice.
In return for your time, we can offer firsthand case work experience, office/ accounts administration experience, travel expenses and a token for your lunch.
